Monday Morsels

8 Oct

I think I had the most productive and low-key weekend I have had in a very long time. Thursday night I was lucky enough to enjoy Carrie Underwood from the 9th row! Technically Thursday isn’t part of the weekend, but I wanted to share how amazing she looked!

She sounded phenomenal,  put on an awesome show and she was so close! The photos above are via iPhone…amazing! On Friday we decided to take it easy and stayed in. We rented “The 5 Year Engagement” (my turn to choose of course!) and had a good laugh.

Saturday Andrew had to work, so I got up nice and early, took Lulu to the groomers and then on a lovely Fall Walk.

She made sure I got her best angle!  I spent the afternoon in the kitchen making homemade granola. Check back tomorrow for the recipe!

And then on Saturday evening we went and saw another movie (Andrew’s choice) and yes.. our lives are so exciting we watched two movies in one weekend.

“End of Watch” was better than I expected and not just because Jake Gyllenhaal was in it. The plot was good, but there was a lot of violence. I could have definitely gone for something with a little bit more fluff, Jake helped me through.

Sunday was a day of work, we FINALLY finished our kitchen.

Since buying the apartment we refinished all of the cabinets and the counter top, replaced the appliances, installed new flooring and painted. I think that our little face lift worked wonders. Eventually (when our bank accounts allow it) we will probably replace the cabinets but for now I think it looks a million times better. And I won’t take any credit since Andrew and his Dad did pretty much everything 🙂

Happy Monday!

Oh hey there Monday, so nice to see you…well maybe not so much. I had a fantastic and somewhat relaxing weekend, relaxing, yes that is what I said. Weird, I know! On Friday I received a couple of sweet surprises in the mail.

This adorable print from Bonnie over at Going Home to Roost.

I can’t wait to frame it and find a place for it in our home. And then I opened my September Glossybox.

It was packed full of goodies, including; a full makeup palette, deodorant, Wella shine serum and more. It might just be my favorite yet! I also watched this little rugrat play soccer.

Did a bit of shopping and then caught up on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. I am so devastated that the season is over!

On Saturday, I started the day with a little bit of reading

I don’t know where my deep love for magazines stems from but you can always count on finding a giant stack of them under my coffee table.

I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning, and then I filled the house with groceries…not very exciting at all, but someone has got to do it! On Saturday night we decided to see a movie.

I think the last movie I saw in the theater was Magic Mike, it felt like I hadn’t been to the theater in forever! Trouble with the Curve was awesome, and no, not just because it was a baseball movie. It had a great cast and I really enjoyed it, I would definitely recommend it.

On Sunday I did the CIBC Run For The Cure. The Fun Bags (thanks Nick) totally rocked!  What an amazing and inspiring morning. I am so happy to have shared it with some of my favorite people!

And to my own surprise, I crushed that 5k. And then, I finally had the opportunity to attend the Food Cart Fest at The Waldorf Hotel. Where I enjoyed some well deserved pupusas at the Guanaco Food Truck.

I also sampled the Steamed Chicken Bun at Le tigre

and ended the day with some Earnest ice Cream.

Seriously people, you have got to try this ice cream. It is absolutely amazing, so creamy, possibly even the best I have ever had. My flavor choice? You guessed it, Hair of the Pig…and it was to die for!

You should go get some…like now!

Happy Monday!

It’s Monday…obviously. Unfortunately, for me,  it’s one of those Monday’s you wish you could stay in bed all day. I could use just one more day of the weekend…and oh, what a weekend it was. On Friday night I tried my hand at a hairstyle I had been eying on pinterest.

I’d say it was a success, here are the step by step instructions.

And then we went for dinner at Cinema.

This BLTA sandwich was absolutely delicious, the rosemary mayo really put it over the top. Dinner was followed by the Jason Mraz concert.

Can you say amazing?! He was out of this world!

I definitely did not want it to end.

On Saturday I took my niece to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and I think I had just as much fun as the kids. I forgot what a blast it is to play all of the games.

The girls took part in some illegal riding activity, which may or may not have been fully condoned by the parents.

And then on Saturday night I got to meet one of my best friends’ new puppy.

Bear! How cute is she! The puppy snuggles were followed by another friends’ art show and a girls night.

If you have noticed the 3 glasses of wine I am holding, don’t jump to conclusions! They aren’t all mine…

Let’s just say I certainly had my share of beverages and sadly due to an “inexplicable illness” the following morning I did not make it to the food cart fest. Devastating… I know!

On the bright side, two of my favorite shows are back on tonight, 2 Broke Girls and Hawaii Five O. It’s all about finding your silver lining people.

Happy Monday!

17 Sep

Oh hey there Monday morning that I am not quite ready to face. I just love waking up 20 minutes before I need to leave the house, especially when there is no one to blame but myself. I will commend myself for walking the dog, brushing my teeth and throwing on some clothes all in that short span of time. But as a general rule I need at least 45 minute to wake up, as a result, I am writing this post in a bit of a haze…forgive me! I will say that it was a pretty fantastic weekend.

We celebrated Lulu’s 5th birthday.

Seriously, how can you resist that face! I know I can’t.

She shared her pupcakes with her BFF’s…and then licked all the icing off the floor.

And then I woke up bright and early on Saturday morning to do a little bit of cross border shopping. I intended only to buy groceries but the problem is Target has clothes in my line of vision…no matter which way I enter the store. And People Style told me I needed a sweater dress for fall, and the Sweater dresses were on sale. I think we know where this is going…

It was all downhill from there, because then I went into Forever 21 and bought this.

Followed by a jean purchase at American Eagle…oops? In my defense, each of these items were listed on the Fall wardrobe must haves…

On Sunday was the 7th Annual BBQ on the Bypass, it was bumpin’

It was beautiful sunshiny day filled with fantastic people and of course, amazing food! Seriously check out these competitor entries.

I bet you’re jealous you weren’t there…you should be!

Happy Monday!

It is beautiful and sunny Monday morning here in Vancouver, looking out your window you might question whether or not Summer has come to a close. But then I stepped outside in flip flops and pajama pants to walk Lulu, and it sure felt like Fall. Despite the blinding sun, the air was crisp and chilly and to be honest, I was totally okay with it, just like I am totally okay with walking my dog in tacky pajama pants and purple flip flops. I am also totally okay with the fact that I only had a 1 day weekend, why you ask? Well, because it was awesome!

On Friday I received my August Glossy Box. Not to shabby, 2 lipsticks, make up remover, face masks and more. This just doesn’t get old, I adore getting these in the mail every month, I might even say it’s the best $15 purchase ever. You can order yours here.

And then we went for PHO at our favorite little spot PHO 101

We decided to take it easy at home and watch a movie, Andrew’s pick – Smoking Aces, my thoughts? Don’t waste your time. I think I should get to pick every time…just sayin. I was at least able to enjoy a homemade Huckleberry Lemonade and reminisce about Montana while people blew each other up on the TV.

I had to work on Saturday but we did head out with some friends Friday evening. There were fishbowls

and beer samplers

and some of the most delicious nachos (bad blogger I forgot to take a photo!). All of these lovely treats were enjoyed at Rogue Kitchen and Wet Bar. I will definitely be going back.

And then on Sunday I finally baked Jenna’s Whole Wheat Applesauce Loaf Cake (sans icing)

and had my first soccer game of the Season.

Naturally, it poured rain as soon as the game started…typical. All in all, I think it was a pretty fantastic couple of days. Hopefully yours, was just as good, if not better than mine!

Happy Monday!

27 Aug

For me, today is not the best Monday. I am feeling under the weather and spending my day on the couch with my partner in crime. She doesn’t seem to mind…

Adorable, I know! Despite today not being the best of days, I did have a fantastic weekend. I was able to go to a housewarming party see my friends’ beautiful new home.

So exciting! I also went to the PNE and had some Prairie Smoke and Spice BBQ.

We played plenty of games, ate mini donuts and lucky for us, the free concert of the evening was Colbie Caillat, how perfect!

After the show we headed downtown to celebrate another friends birthday.

It was a great night!

And then yesterday I was thrilled to be a part of the 1st Annual North Surrey Automall Car-B-Que. There was face painting, plenty of fun, and of course delicious BBQ.

I can’t wait until next year!

Happy Monday!

Honey I’m Home! Sorry for the minor hiatus, but I deserved a little time off didn’t I?

It was definitely a nice few days to myself, Andrew was away in Ontario for softball so I celebrated my birthday in neon shorts…and cowboy boots of course!

And then I went on a girls trip to the Okanagan. There were wineries

lots of wineries!

I have been wine touring in Sonoma but this was definitely a whole new experience. The Okanagan scenery was amazing and the wine was delicious, I can’t wait to go wine touring with the girls again!

Even more fun? Tubing in Osoyoos.

It was an absolute blast, we may be 25 but we’ve still got it! And then on Friday I got was beyond excited to celebrate my dear friends wedding. Can you say beautiful bride?!

After so much excitement, you would think that this would be a horrible Monday, but time off, great friends and some rest and relaxation were exactly what I needed!

Happy Monday!
