Monday Morsels

7 May

As usual another busy weekend for me. We have started renovations on our apartment so I spent Friday night and all day Saturday cleaning cabinets and sanding walls. Needless to say by the time Saturday night rolled around I was in bed by 10. Who knew it could take so much out of you, or that your boogers could turn white from inhaling putty dust that has been sanded off the walls – lesson learned! In other exciting news that doesn’t involve boogers, I received my first Glossybox in the mail. Check it out.

Such a cute box – I adore the packaging. Plus, you can’t beat the novelty of getting an adorable little package addressed to you in the mail. The $15 dollars I spent is definitely worth it considering the moisturizer alone was worth $20. Throw in some mascara, a full size body wash, some hair products and I am a happy girl. I can’t wait to see what next month brings me. Order your Glossybox and join the party!

I have also fallen in love with another show, GCB, which stands for Good Christian Bitches or Belles – which ever you prefer. It is set in Dallas where Amanda Vaughn, a recent widow moves back into the wealthy neighborhood in Dallas where she grew up. While trying to start her life over she is engrossed in the tumultuous gossip, drama and competition of all the women from her past. It is absolutely hilarious!  Typical I know, it’s very southern, plays country music and the amount of sparky, bedazzled cowboy boots is beyond awesome!

Do yourself a favor on this beautiful Monday morning and have a listen to Ben Rector. You can thank me later!

Happy Monday!

For Your Listening Pleasure

I usually like to give you an explanation on why I am absolutely loving a song, or recommend an entire album but lately I have been obsessed with a few very different songs for no particular reason, other than I think that they are awesome. So here is what is currently playing  on repeat

Springsteen – Eric Church. The song may seem a bit anticlimactic but I really, really like it. Correction – love it.

Drive By – Train. It just makes me tap my foot, bob my head, slap my knee. You know what old people do when they are totally getting into something. Yes, I am that person.

Whiskey – Jana Kramer. I never watched one tree hill but a friend that did recommended her music to me all I can say is, thank god!

Young Homie – Chris Rene. I am not sure if any of you watched X Factor but pretty much the only reason I did was for him. Chris Rene stole my heart when he auditioned and he has yet to give it back. I am stoked to see that he is having so much success.

I bet this isn’t exactly what you were expecting but I like to mix it up a little. And there is a good chance most of you probably won’t like any of the songs but hey, that’s okay too. I probably don’t like what you listen to either so there, take that!

For Your Listening Pleasure – A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock and Roll

13 Dec

There is a little something for everyone today. You know that song, I’m a little bit country, I’m a little bit rock and roll. You’re singing it, I know you are. Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone you know a Donny and Marie Osmond song. Regardless of who sings the song, it completely fits my music selections today

Train – I recently saw them in concert with Maroon 5 and was absolutely blown away. I’m sure that you are also blown away that I went to a concert that was not country music, believe me I surprise myself too. I had no idea that I knew so many of their songs. Not to mention they sounded amazing! I was thoroughly impressed.

Blake Shelton Red River Blue – I know I have preached about Blake before but he totally deserves another mention. “Honeybee” was certainly my Summer anthem. Some may say I have moved on to bigger and better things, ahem… track 2. But seriously it doesn’t stop there, the entire Red River Blue album is amazing. My lovely coworker purchased the entire CD for me as a secret Santa gift and  I have not stopped playing it since. Aside from Honeybee, my favorite songs are Ready to Roll, God Gave me you and Drink on it. If you love Blake Shelton, you will love him even more after you listen to this album, go buy it…seriously!

Next up…Christmas Carols DUH!

Weekly Obsessions – September 15

15 Sep

This afternoon I am off on a mini getaway with some of my best girlfriends. We aren’t heading to far, just crossing the border to visit the land of the free and shop our hearts out! But before I go I thought I would share what I have been crushing on this week.

Almond Milk – seriously soooo good, I actually do not like milk at all. Never have, never will, it’s only use to me is on cereal, in coffee and to use in baked goods. So when I was asked to try almond milk on a recent trip to Trader Joe’s I promptly turned my nose up and said “ummm no I don’t like milk remember”. However, I try to be a good sport and have an open mind so I decided to try it and thanks to my lovely BFF Jen my eyes have been opened to a whole new world. In fact, I think it is the start of a lifelong love affair. Not only is it dairy free its high in calcium and vitamins A, D and E. My favorite, well so far, is Trader Joe’s Almond Smooth in chocolate flavor. Best chocolate milk out there, next up Coconut milk, I will let you know how it goes!

“Take a Back Road” by Rodney Atkins – I know I say this a lot but seriously, best song ever!! It’s  definitely the new honeybee for me. I absolutely love it and may or may not play it repeatedly on my iPod. It’s up beat, catchy, and I really enjoy singing it at the top of my lungs. I’m an excellent singer..NOT! But I definitely do not have any shame. Which I think that we have all realized, considering I created a rap video to try to win Taylor Swift tickets. One word…FAIL! Oh well, it was fun and I am sure the video will haunt me for the rest of my life.

Well I am off to spend the next couple of days relaxing in Bellingham…don’t miss me too much!

3 Things I Love About Today

17 Jun

1. It’s Friday – TGIF, seriously! It has been a long week folks. Between spending hours peeling wallpaper off in our new place and watching the Stanley Cup slip through our fingertips I need a some R & R. But, that doesn’t mean I will get it, it is my mom’s birthday, Father’s Day and I have a fun-filled family night planned in Whistler. But, I will take that over work and wallpaper removal any day.

2. My dog calendar – laugh all you want but it brightens my day, everyday! I come into work every morning and I can not wait to flip the page and see what awaits. And lo and behold, today it was a wiener, pretty awesome if I do say so myself.

3. Blake Shelton’s latest song, “Honey bee”. It’s adorable and cheesy but it brings a big smile to my face, it may or may not be playing on repeat on my iPod. Classic  cliché country music, and I love it 🙂

I think I have made it pretty clear that I don’t just love country music, but I live for it. Seriously it is my vice and I take a lot of flack for it, but I don’t care I will defend it’s sappy, honky tonk, story telling to my grave.

Here are a couple of recommendations for your listening pleasure:

The Band Perry (self titled) – I just bought this CD from itunes because I really liked a couple of their songs that I’d heard on the radio and it is fantastic! It is country through and through so if you aren’t down with honky tonk steer clear! My favorite tracks: “Independence”, “If I die Young”, “You Lie”

Adele 21– Don’t be shocked I do venture outside of my country box every now and then to enjoy other genres of music and I adore Adele. Sooo good! I was recently given her latest CD and it is fantastic. I have liked her since “Chasing Pavements” and my love has only grown stronger with songs like “Rolling in the Deep” “One and Only” and “Set Fire to the Rain”.
