Last Thing Thursdays

4 Oct

It’s Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday, which means today is a good day. Take my advice and just go with it, deal? Okay good!

The Last Thing…

I Made. This One Earth Chia Chia Coconut Cookie Mix

Holy was it good! You know me, I like to bake, but it is almost always from scratch. I was a little bit skeptical about these wheat free cookies, but my goodness was I wrong. They were delicious. They had a slightly different texture than a regular cookie, but it was by no means a bad thing, they were moist and chewy, packed with fiber, and had great flavor . Not only will I make them again, I can’t wait to try more One Earth products, specifically the Banana Quinoa Granola Bar Mix.

I Wanted to Make. This!

Pinch of Yum‘s Butternut Squash Mac ‘n’ Cheese with Bacon, Caramelized Onions, and Apples. Enough said!

I Downloaded. The VSCO CAM App. And let me tell you it’s worth every one of the 99 pennies it cost. Here is a before, and after of a photo I took.

You really want those carrots, I know you do! The VSCO Camera app has quite a few more settings, and editing capabilities in comparison to other camera apps I have used. I was able to edit this photo, save, and then upload it to Instagram without adding any additional filters. I think I am in love.

I Ogled on Etsy. The On Your Case Store

How Cute are these iPhone cases, I want at least 6 of them, that’s normal right?

Thought was Genius. Thanks to Ashley, my coffee will never go cold again.

Use a candle warmer to keep your coffee or tea warm, genius I tell ya!

I Pinned. This beautiful home.

The ceiling is absolutely amazing, so rustic. I dream of having a home like this! Speaking of homes, Diary of a Jewell is giving away two pairs of tickets to the Vancouver Home and Design Show, Oct 11-14. Head over to our Facebook Page and share it for a chance to win, contest ends tomorrow!

I Was Looking Forward to. Today!!! Why you ask? Because I am so excited to see Carrie Underwood in concert.

Yes, I have seen her before, but who cares?!

I hope that the evening you have planned is as enjoyable as mine! It’s all a matter of opinion right?! If not, well…revel in the fact the weekend is almost here!

Last Thing Thursdays

20 Sep

Hey guess what?! It’s almost the weekend…yessss! Here’s a little something to help you get through the day.

Seriously how cute is that Bandana! (minus the wrinkles…no not her wrinkles those are awesome!) Moving on to your favorite weekly post.

The Last Thing…

I really, really wanted. These absolutely stunning Old Gringo boots.

I am drooling right now…but at $600 a pair I think I will keep dreaming.

I Was Looking Forward To. Food Cart Fest at  The Waldorf.

I have not sampled a single bite from any of Vancouver’s new and exciting food trucks. What better way to do it, then all at once! The Food Cart Fest ran every Sunday throughout the Summer. Unfortunately, our busy schedule did not allow us to check it out. But fortunately, for us it was so popular they extended it until Sept 30…yessssss! I can not wait to stuff my face, have a couple beverages and enjoy the live music.

I Ogled on Etsy. The gorgeous fruit bin.

It sits under you cabinets and above the counter, perfect for utilizing counter space in a small kitchen. I would love to replace out counter top basket with this beauty!

That Made Me Laugh Out Loud.

When I am lost the first thing I do is turn down the music, silence is totally going to help me figure out where I am…not! If you don’t listen to country music you probably won’t get it….I will forgive you, but just this once!

I Pinned. Pumpkin Cream Oreo Tarts via Lauren’s Latest

Two words…yes please! Let’s talk about Pinterest for a moment, does anyone get as much joy as I do when people re pin the things you’ve pinned? I don’t know why but for some reason it is really, really satisfying…is that weird?

I was Intrigued By. This List.

15 Books to Cure your Hunger Games Hangover. I can fully admit that I have not recovered from my Hunger Games hang0ver and I have been looking for something to fill the giant void for some time. I have heard of Diveregent and was considering reading the series, do you have any insight into this novel or any of the others on the list? Sharing is caring you know!

Happy Thursday!

Last Thing Thursdays

13 Sep

I like today, I am not entirely sure why, I think it is the combination of my sparkly nails, polka dots, new coffee mug and sunshine! Sounds like a recipe for the perfect Thursday to me!

The Last Thing…

I Made. This delightful banana jam.

I had quite a few ripe bananas in my fruit bowl and I wasn’t really feeling muffins or bread, so I went with the next best thing. Jam! Who knew banana jam could be so delicious. I was skeptical of the idea, but I figured if it was a bust I would only be wasting 30 minutes and 5 bananas, I just love when things exceed your expectations. This gooey spread is the perfect topping for waffles and pancakes. Even better? Throw it on top of some vanilla ice cream…heaven!

That made me go HUH?! An article I read about the newest attraction in Vancouver, to go Zombie Hunting? Ummm, no thanks?

You can read the full article here. I am truly baffled…

That Made Laugh Out Loud. This absolutely hilarious article titled The Fart that Almost Altered my Destiny…enough said. Just read it, you will die! In fact I still have tears streaming down my face.

I ogled online. This perfect black lace scalloped blouse.

I really, really want it!

I was looking forward to. The weekend! I have an exciting shopping trip planned on Saturday and Sunday is the 7th annual BBQ on the Bypass.

There will be plenty of food, live music and tons of fun. And its free! If you are near by, you should definitely go….just sayin!

I Pinned. This lovely bedroom.

So simple and elegant, love it!

I Planned to Make. Shrimp and Rice Casserole.

Dinner is lookin’ mighty fine kids!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Last Thing Thursdays

6 Sep

It is an absolutely beautiful day and I have filled this post with a few absolutely awesome things!

The Last Thing I…

Was looking forward to. Target and Neiman Marcus are teaming up with 24 CFDA Designers to collaborate collections to celebrate the CFDA’s 50th anniversary. Target is known for partnering with designers to showcase capsule collections including Missoni and Zac Posen. The new list includes Alice + Olivia, Diane von Furstenberg, Tory Burch and Marc Jacobs.

Can you say excited? As if I didn’t already love Target enough, I can’t wait to see what these collections produce! You can read all about it here.

Was thrilled about. The reincarnation of Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte.

You can follow my Instagram account @kjewell3

I had my first one yesterday and it was glorious. It is easily my favorite caffeinated beverage and to say that I am excited about it is really an understatement. I captioned this Instagram photo “looks like summer, tastes like fall”. So appropriate for this beautiful Vancouver weather, I absolutely love Fall but I am not sure if I am ready for it quite yet!

Planned to Make. Jenna’s Whole Wheat Applesauce Loaf.

I am doing it, tonight!

Drank. Tangerine Wheat Beer.

Umm can I have some more? This was for sure one of the most delicious beverages I have tried in a while. And now I am on the hunt to find it so I can stock my fridge.

Received as a Gift. Oh hey there cutest cups and saucers I have ever seen.

I told you how much I loved these when I went to Lucky’s Doughnuts and now I have a whole set to call my very own. Don’t you love it when people pay attention to you? Tea party anyone?

Read. The 3rd installment of the Harry Potter Series, “Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban”.

I definitely did not get through the entire series as promised on my Summer Bucket List, but I am still working on it. Persistence is the key!

Pinned. These mason jar bouquets brought a little bit of joy to my afternoon.

Hopefully they do the same for you!

Last Thing Thursdays

30 Aug

I am heading out as we speak to drive 11 hours to Calgary…shoot me now. Just kidding! I am actually really looking forward to watching Andrew play in the World Series and eating donuts, the commute is the only downer. But lets be honest I will probably sleep most of the way, I’m good at that. Here is a little something to brighten your morning.

The Last Thing I…

Crossed Off my Summer Bucket List. Pinkberry! And thank goodness because summer is almost over 😦

Finally! I had the coconut frozen yogurt with an assortment of fruit, a little bit of almond roca and topped with pizelle. Loved it, every last bite, I didn’t share.

Discovered. That H & M has a home store in the UK, and in early 2013 it will be hitting the US of A. Maybe I am behind the times but I feel like I am usually pretty “on it” when it comes to the shopping scene. And if you ask me, this is pretty bad ass news (in the best way possible). I spent a solid hour creeping the website and getting myself all worked up. I love this

And  this

And I am buying this.

How excited are you? Or is just me? Finger crossed they put one in Seattle!

Bought. Yet another denim shirt, I thought I might be taking it too far with 3 in my closet. Then, I counted my cardigans….we won’t go there.

Wanted to Buy. These wooden bangles.

via Fancy French Cologne

I love the color combinations. Adorable!

Wanted to DIY. This wicked quote poster. Basically you just place your quote on top of a print and then paint over it. Easy peasy!

They did an awesome job on this wall art over at A Beautiful Mess and I feel like I could totally rock this. Now to find the time…

Pinned. These Martha Stewart Peanut Butter Toffee Cookies.

It is a road trip after all…

I will do my best to stay in touch while we are away. Happy almost weekend!

Last Thing Thursdays

23 Aug

Can you believe that August is almost over? I know I can’t, it seems like this whole Summer has just flown by. As much as I love Fall, I am just not sure I am ready yet. But I am ready to tell you about

 The Last Thing I…

Wanted to Make. Spoon Fork Bacon‘s Sparkling Apple Sangria.

Such an easy recipe!

Sparkling Apple Sangria
Serves 4 to 6

1 (750ml) bottle of Riesling (can sub Pinot Grigio)
1 red delicious apple, julienne
1 granny smith apple, julienne
1/2 (750ml) bottle of brut champagne or sparkling wine, chilled

1. Pour Riesling into a large pitcher and stir in apples. Place in the refrigerator and allow to sit for at least 2 hours and up to 24 hours.
2. Add champagne/sparkling wine, stir and serve.

**If your apples brown or get limp while infusing into the wine, strain the apples out and replace them with fresh ones before adding the champagne and serving. The fresh apples WILL float to the top for a bit, but the sangria will stay just as delicious.

Craved. A Curly Wurly.

A friend introduced me to this Cadbury chocolate bar about a month ago and I instantly fell in love. It is a delicious thin, chewy caramel wrapped in Cadbury milk chocolate… heaven! There is a good chance that unless you are from the UK ot have traveled there, that you have never tried one, you’re missing out people! You can find them in specialty candy stores and trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Wanted to DIY. These amazing and simple, no sew pillow covers.

I found this tutorial on Pinterest awhile ago and I am looking forward to finding some prints to compliment my living room.

Pinned. This resort tree house in Bali.

Enough said!

Was Ashamed to Say I Watch. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

I have no explanation as to why I think this show is hilarious but for some strange reason I do. And I can not get enough of it. It’s a train wreck with little to no purpose that I devote 30-60 minutes of my life to every week, and I love it. Between Glitzy the Pig and Sugar Bear, I split a gut every episode. Don’t judge me!

Was Really looking forward to watching. Nashville, a new drama on ABC.

I know that this comes as no surprise to you regular readers, I just love country, what can I say? This show already has some great buzz and I am really looking forward to the premiere on October 10.

What fall shows are you looking forward to?
