I know this is a little delayed but it has been a busy few days since returning home, and hey better late than never. Note to self, you use that saying way to often. Moving on…last week I was lucky enough to jump on a plane and surprise my sister in Reno. This may seem like no big deal but I have never been there to visit, bad sister I know! And so I was really looking forward not only see her, but also experience a new city. We all know how much, I like to travel. Seriously if someone was like let’s go to Alaska I would be in there like a dirty shirt. I am just always excited to see new things.
Reno is the biggest little city in the world…witty right?! It was once a mini Las Vegas with several casinos and people traveling from all over to come and gamble. While the casinos still exist, it definitely does not compare to Vegas. Reno took quite a hit from the recession and has yet to recover. But don’t let that discourage you from visiting, there is a lot more than meets the eye. The scenery is spectacular, you are encased by gorgeous mountains and it’s sunny 300 days of the year.
When I arrived at the airport it was like a bright Spring day, except it was late February. And it continued to be sunny for the entire 4 days I was there, even when it was snowing. I spent a good portion of the time just relaxing in my sisters living room.
Yes this is actually her living room. One day people, one day…there is nothing wrong with dreaming. I also spent some time in her kitchen…life just isn’t fair I know.
Aside, from being parked on my butt in my sisters beautiful home, I did get a chance to do some shopping and tour the city. Shockingly there is plenty to do besides gamble, I recommend taking a walk along the river, simply stunning! We also made the journey to Lake Tahoe which is just a mere 25 minute drive. And let me tell you it was incredible! It snowed the day before which made for one the most scenic drives I have ever been on through the mountains. Tahoe is truly stunning and I promised myself I would journey back during the summer. I mean seriously, if this is what it looks like during the winter:
Imagine how magical it would be in the summer.
What a beautiful little getaway!
