More Christmas Goodies!

15 Dec

Round 2…just as delicious and simple. I promise, seriously have I let you down yet? This one comes from the lovely Carly not the Lilinator, she’s not quite as awesome but, I still kinda like her ūüėČ And, yes, they are actually called Yummies…awesome, I know!

Christmas Yummies

Ingredients

3 cups white chocolate wafers (morsels) or melting chocolate

4 cups of golden grahams

1 cups of Christmas M&M’s

1/2 cup of Craisins

Instructions

Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside. Melt the white chocolate, I like to use the double boiler method. But you can also just throw in a pot and melt it at a low temperature. Once it is melted stir in the remaining ingredients. Pour the mixture on to the covered cookie sheet and put it in the refrigerator to set. It shouldn’t take much more than an hour. It is seriously that easy.

You can also add 1 cup of peanuts, or any nut really. I prefer it sans nuts. Once in a while I like to use peanut butter M&M’s…daring I know! This is kind of a pick your own ingredients kind of goodie but, I will say the golden grahams are pretty essential, so don’t go getting any ideas to throw in Shreddies…that would be a big mistake!

Yummy…no pun intended!

For Your Listening Pleasure – A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock and Roll

13 Dec

There is a little something for everyone today. You know that song, I’m a little bit country, I’m a little bit rock and roll. You’re singing it, I know you are. Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone you know a Donny and Marie Osmond song. Regardless of who sings the song, it completely fits my music selections today

Train – I recently saw them in concert with Maroon 5 and was absolutely blown away. I’m sure that you are also blown away that I went to a concert that was not country music, believe me I surprise myself too. I had no idea that I knew so many of their songs. Not to mention they sounded amazing! I was thoroughly impressed.

Blake Shelton Red River Blue – I know I have preached about Blake before but he totally deserves another mention. “Honeybee” was certainly my Summer anthem. Some may say I have moved on to bigger and better things, ahem… track 2. But seriously it doesn’t stop there, the entire Red River Blue album is amazing. My lovely coworker purchased the entire CD for me as a secret Santa gift and¬† I have not stopped playing it since. Aside from Honeybee, my favorite songs are Ready to Roll, God Gave me you and Drink on it. If you love Blake Shelton, you will love him even more after you listen to this album, go buy it…seriously!

Christmas Goodies!

6 Dec

So I am not sure how you spent your weekend but I spent mine indulging in far to many Christmas goodies! So many in fact that I am still uncomfortable wearing jeans…stretchy pants it is! Don’t worry, my wardrobe woes will certainly not stop me from eating all of the Christmas treats I love so much. The one in particular that did me in this weekend was Almond Roca, well actually it was my mom’s homemade version. Her recipe calls it Soda Cracker Candy…not very appealing I know. I thought I would rename it, Poor Man’s Almond Roca but she didn’t like that much so I¬†think I will go¬†with Lilinator’s¬†Soda Cracker Candy. Despite the name, I actually like it better than the real stuff, and that is saying a lot considering I have polished off one of the giant pink Costco tins of Almond Roca in the past.

Soda Cracker Candy

Ingredients

1 sleeve Premium Plus Soda Crackers

1 Cup Butter (we use margarine)

1 cup Brown Sugar

10 oz chocolate chips (250 grams)

Powdered Almonds

Instructions

Line a 11 x 15 inch cookie sheet with foil. Grease the foil and cover with soda crackers.

Boil butter and brown sugar for 2 minutes, no more or it will burn! Spoon the mixture over the crackers and then bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. Once you remove it from the oven, scatter the chocolate chips over the top and smooth them as they melt. Dust the powdered almonds over the top. Finally, put it in the fridge to set and then break it into pieces and serve.

This is a great option if you are looking for something quick and delicious to whip up for your Christmas Cookie Exchange. I have a few more recipes to share with you, but I think one a day is enough. Besides, the picture above is of the leftover Soda Cracker Candy in the fridge and it has my name on it.

Enjoy… I know I will!

The Joys of December

1 Dec

God I love Christmas… well that was definitely not politically correct but I really don’t care, to me it is Christmas and it always will be, and people use god as an adjective all the time, so don’t judge! But for reals, the holiday season is easily my favorite time of year for so many reasons.

Everything smells better. Like literally everything,¬† the air, peoples houses, stores, it doesn’t matter where you go really, people just seem to be much more conscious of the odors surrounding them. It’s a shame they don’t do this year round, right?

Baked goods around every corner. My ass may not agree while trying to sausage myself into the tightest skinny jeans on earth, but I don’t care I love eating cookies for breakfast. And for someone reason this is only socially acceptable in December, so I run with it.

Sooo many activities! After Summer I think that many of us feel like our social lives had faded away along with the sun. Have no fear, the month of December will revive your social calendar and make you feel cool again. So cool, that you might actually have to decline a party invite due to your ridiculously busy schedule.

Christmas decor. I don’t know what it is about walking into someone’s house, and it looking like Christmas threw up but it brings me soooo much joy! Window decals, garland, Santa paraphernalia everywhere and of course the tinsel you find in random places after you’ve gone home, awesome! I am definitely going to be one the old ladies with 12 bins of Christmas items in storage, I have already started hoarding!

Lights! I absolutely love driving around to look at Christmas lights, I might be 24 but this does not get old for me. I wish someone in my family would spend thousands of dollars to make their house look like Disneyland at Christmas…Any takers?

And with that I wish you a Happy first day of December friends, what are you favorite things about the holiday season?
